Mount Kalasar boasts one of the most impressive viewpoints overlooking the Teksar Range. The picturesque peaks on the opposite side make it a perfect location for capturing remarkable photos.

At the beginning of the day, we will make a stop at the Yeghegis Gorge, from where we will hike to Hermon Monastery. Then, starting from the village of Hermon, we will ascend Mount Kalasar.

Located in the Vayots Dzor region, Mount Kalasar rises to an elevation of 2,230 m. At its summit, sections of the ancient Kalasar Fortress walls have been preserved. It is believed that this fortress predates Smbataberd, as evidenced by the absence of mortar in the surviving stonework.

Bezoar goat are frequently seen around the fortress, and with a bit of luck, we may be fortunate enough to spot some during our hike.

The summit offers stunning panoramic views of the mountains of Vayots Dzor, especially the Teksar Range.

We will go on a hike to the waterfalls of the Khosrov Reserve, which are named after the Armenian pagan gods Astghik and Vahagn.

The hike will start from the village of Garni. First, we will see the Symphony of Stones in the Azat Gorge, then, after crossing an 11th-century bridge, we will enter the Khosrov Reserve and continue our way to the waterfalls.

In Armenia, as in many other countries, paganism has left a deep mark. Some waterfalls in Armenia are even named after the beloved Armenian gods. For example, in the Khosrov Reserve, there are four waterfalls, two of which are located close to each other and are named after Armenian pagan deities, Astghik (the goddess of love and beauty) and Vahagn (the god of fire and war).

The Khosrov Reserve is an ideal place for hiking. And in hot weather, it’s especially nice to stop and refresh yourself by these beautiful waterfalls.

From the summit of Mets Parakhadem, there is an impressive view of Mount Ararat. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the view of Ararat. This is one of the reasons why the route has become one of the most popular in Armenia.

We’ll start the hike near Tigranashen. Passing along the slopes of the Urts Mountains, we’ll ascend the rocky peak of Mets Parakhadem.

Mount Mets Parakhadem is one of the highest peaks of the Urts mountain range. Its height is 1955 meters. The Urts mountain range is located between the Shagap and Aratso rivers, a tributary of the Vedi, in the south of Ararat province. The landscape is semi-desert in the foothills and mountain-steppe in the highlands.

Let’s start the hike from the village of Hovk. We will descend along the slopes of the Ijevan Mountains to the village of Haghartsin. Our group will walk through dense forests surrounded by majestic peaks of the Ijevan mountains to enjoy a stunning view of the Aghstev river valley.

Aragats is a lonely extinct volcano, the highest mountain of nowadays Armenia. Mount Aragats is a majestic natural monument with four peaks – Northern – 4090.1 meters, Western – 3995.3 m, Eastern – 3908.2 meters, Southern – 3887.8 meters. During our hike we will climb the Southern peak.

At the beginning of the tour, we will pick you up from your hotel and move to the Lake Kari. The lake is situated at an altitude of 3200 m above sea level on a plateau beneath mountain peaks. From here we will start our Mount Aragats hiking tour to the Southern peak, 3887.8 meters.

Ascent to mount Aragats / Southern Summit

Hiking period for Aragats is very short – from July to September (sometimes even mid October), so if you plan to take part in Mount Aragats hiking tour, make sure to do that at the right season.

In the evening we will return to Yerevan.

Mount Aragats is the highest point of Armenia which has four peaks. Over the years, many mountaineers reached the peaks from Lake Kari and had no idea about other lakes of Aragats. The highest peak of Mount Aragats is the Northern summit – 4090 m. From the Lakes Rapi, Mtnalich, and Astghkan, mountaineers have the opportunity to enjoy the view of the Northern wall that is magnetic whether it’s covered with snow or not.

Mtnalich / Lakes of Aragats

In the morning, we will move from Yerevan to the village of Geghadzor in Aragatsotn province on off-road cars. We will continue our way on off-road cars from the village of Geghadzor to Lake Rapi at an altitude of 3000 m. From there opens a view of the Northern wall of Mount Aragats.

After that, we will start our hike to Lake Mtnalich at an altitude of 3500 m. The lake is situated under the highest summit of Armenia.

Then we will walk to lake Astghkan at an altitude of 3116 m and enjoy the Northern wall from the other side. We will finish the hike near lake Rapi and go down to the village of Geghadzor on off-road cars.

The ascent from the Gegharot waterfall is comparatively easy. In the morning, we will move from Yerevan to the village of Aragats and reach a height of 2900 m on jeeps. After that, we will start our hike to the Northern Summit of Aragats. We will climb above the Gegharot waterfall and reach the top through the Northeast saddle.

Mount Azhdahak is an extinct volcano, the highest point of Geghama Mountain Range, located at an altitude of 3597 meters above the sea level. On the top of the mountain a crystal-clear crater lake is situated, which is filled with icy water of the mountains all year round. While climbing Azhdahak you can admire the views of Mount Ararat, Hatis, Ara and Aragats. These mountains keep many secrets and mysteries.

Azhdahak is one of the most popular destinations for hiking and trekking in Armenia. Geghama Mountains are also a perfect place for multiday trekking tours, as there are a lot of different routes.

Early in the morning, on an off-road car we will move to the height of 3000 meters above sea level and from here, on foot, we will start our hike to the top of the Mount Azhdahak.

In Armenian mythology, Azhdahak is a man-dragon (Vishap), whose name is Azhidahaka. Azhi means snake, dragon, who fights against the god of thunder Freydun. Vishaps live high in the sky, but sometimes they descend into the depths of the lake, while emitting a dreadful roar.

Petroglyphs of Geghama mountains

Ancient myths are reflected in the mysterious stone paintings. Scientists from all over the world climb this mountains to see the petroglyphs on the rocks. But until now, a mystery which they keep, remains unsolved.

During our hike you will have an opportunity to see these petroglyphs.

Yeranos mountains are one of the south-western branches of the Geghama mountain range. It stretches along the left bank of the river Azat to the Ararat plateau.

It has a semi-desert, dry mountain steppe landscape. The north-western slopes of Yeranos mountains are included in “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve.

This hiking trail is one of the longest and most beautiful ones among one-day trips.

The beautiful view of Mount Ararat will accompany us the whole way up. Also on our way we will see the natural monument “Sphynx”.
