Since 2014 our company organizes trekking tours to Mount Ararat. Hundreds of participants have already shared with us their dream to step on the top of the Mount Ararat.

In 2026, another trekking tour to Mount Ararat will be organized and this is a great chance to join one of our many groups for this adventure of a lifetime.

Ararat may be the easiest among the world’s five-thousanders, so if you plan on starting to hike up high altitude mountains, then Ararat is a perfect option for that. But even if it’s the easiest one that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to prepare for it. Below you will find the detailed day by day description of the trip and articles on how to get in shape for it.

The overall duration of this tour is 7 days (6 nights)

Day 1: Yerevan – Ani – Dogubayazit

Our trip starts at 4 am from Yerevan. We will drive to the Armenian – Georgian border, after crossing the Bavra checkpoint we’ll continue to the Georgian – Turkish border. Our first stop will be in Ani which has been the capital of Bagratuni kingdom. After an excursion in Ani, we will continue to Dogubayazit. Overnight in a hotel in Dogubayazit.

Day 2: First Camp / 3400m

From the hotel we will approach the mountain by bus. It will take us till 2400 meters from where we will start the ascent. The hike will take approximately 4-5 hours till the first base camp on 3400m. We will hike up to a nice camp on the slope of Mount Masis and be greeted with a table full of different kind of goodies.

After having rest and making ourselves comfortable at the camp, we will have dinner.

All the heavy stuff will be carried from camp to camp by horses.

Overnight in tents at an altitude of 3400 meters.

Trekking tour to Ararat

Length of the route – 5 km

Altitude gain – 1000 m

Day 3: Second Camp / 4200m

On the third day, after breakfast, we will start the ascent form the first base camp (3400m) to the second one at an altitude of 4200m. The duration of the hike will be from 4 to 5 hours.
After reaching the second camp, we will settle down in the tents after which our guides will provide the crampons and teach us how to put them on.

We will have an early dinner and prepare ourselves for sleep, as we’re gonna have a tough ascent on the next day.

Overnight in tents at an altitude of 4200 meters.

Trekking tour to Ararat

Length of the route – 4 km

Altitude gain – 800 m

Day 4: The summit of the mountain Ararat / 5165m

The day starts at 12 am. We wake up, have some light breakfast and at 1 am approximately start our ascent to the top of the mountain Ararat. The ascent from camp to the summit takes some 6-7 hours. On the way to the summit we will have a great opportunity to enjoy a unique phenomena – the shadow of Masis behind us. The time spent on the summit depends on the weather conditions, it can last from 10 mins to 1 hour.

After we’ll return to the second base camp at 4200m, pack our bags and descend to the first camp on 3200m, where we will have dinner and an overnight sleep.

Day 5: Returning to Dogubayazit

After the breakfast we will descend to 2200 meters from where the minibus will take us to Dogubayazit. On the second half of the day, after having some rest and a long-awaited shower we will drive to the Ishak Pasha palace.

Trekking tour to Ararat

In the evening we will celebrate our ascent together at a restaurant. Overnight in a hotel in Dogubayazit.

Day 6: Exploring Van

In the morning, after breakfast, we will head to Van. We’ll visit the Berkri waterfall and continue to Van fortress to see panoramic views of the city, the ruins of Van’s urban district, and Mount Varag. A delightful encounter with the famous Van cats is also on our list. After that, we’ll take a boat to Aghtamar island, where we will explore Aghtamar church and swim in the azure waters of lake Van. .

Day 7: Dogubayazit – Kars – Yerevan

After breakfast we will drive to Kars and see the Holy Apostles Church and Kars fortress, Vardan’s bridge and the remnants of Charent’s house. After we will return to Yerevan.

This program is for those who have previously visited Western Armenia and are specifically interested in climbing Mount Ararat. It does not include visits to Ani, Kars, and Van.

29.08-02․09, 2026

Day 1: Yerevan – Dogubayazit

First Camp

Overnight in tents at an altitude of 3200 meters.

Day 3: Second Camp / 4200 m

After breakfast, we will start the ascent form the first base camp (3200m) to the second one at an altitude of 4200m. The duration of the hike will be from 4 to 5 hours.

Overnight in tents at an altitude of 4200 meters.

All the heavy stuff will be carried from camp to camp by horses.

Day 4: The summit of the mountain Ararat / 5165m

We begin our ascent to the summit at night, which typically takes around 6-7 hours. After reaching the top, we descend to 4200 m, where we take a rest, prepare ourselves, and then continue our descent to 3200 m.

Day 5: Dogubayazit – Yerevan

After breakfast, we depart for the Georgian-Turkish border in the morning.

The ArmGeo team offers you to complete an ascent to Mount Damavand, the highest volcano in Asia. During the Volcanic Seven Summits project we are going to climb the highest volcanoes of all continents.

Day 1. Tehran

Flight to Tehran. Meeting at the hotel and an evening walk in Tehran.

Day 2. Pulur – 4200 camp

In the morning, we’ll go to the foothills of Damavand. From here, we’ll drive to 3200 m on off-road vehicles and begin the hike to the camp, which is located at an altitude of 4200 meters.

All heavy stuff will be carried on horses.

Day 3. Acclimatization day

In the afternoon, we’ll go up about 400 meters and return to the camp again, so that the body adapts to the altitude.

Day 4. On the top of Mount Damavand

At night we’ll start the ascent to the top of the Mount Damavand. We’ll ascend 1400 meters.

Day 5. Return to Tehran

In the morning, we pack up and go down to the foot of the mountain, where off-road cars will take us to Pulur.

On February 6-14, 2026, Armenian Geographic will organize the second ascent to Kilimanjaro, to the roof of Africa (5895 m).

For the climb we have chosen the shortest and most comfortable route – Marangu with the duration of 6 days, during which, unlike other routes, overnight stays will be spent in special mountain huts.

Kilimanjaro trekking tour

The Marangu Route also known as the “Coca-Cola Route” is the oldest and most well established trekking route on Mount Kilimanjaro, and it remains extremely popular mainly because it is the only route on the mountain that has hut accommodation for trekkers.

The Marangu route provides a relatively quiet hike, but the seriousness of the climb should not be underestimated.

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2. Marangu Gate (1830m) – Mandara Hut (2720m)

Duration of the hike: 3-4 hours
Length of the route: 9 km
Altitude gain: 890 m
Climate zone: rainforest

After breakfast at the hotel we will drive to Marangu Gate. The drive will take about 1,5 hour. After check-in we will get ready for the climb, and before that the porters will collect and arrange things to bring them to the camp.

After about 3-4 hours of walking through the rainforest we will reach our first camp – the Mandara Hut.

Dinner and overnight in the huts.

Day 3. Mandara Hut (2720 m) – Horombo Hut (3720 m)

Hiking duration: 5-6 hours
Length of the route: 13 km
Altitude gain: 1000 m
Climate zone: heath / moorland

After breakfast we will leave the forest area and go up to the moorland area. We will enjoy a beautiful view of the volcanic cone of Mawenzi along the way. After about 6-7 hours of climbing we will reach the second camp, from where we will enjoy a beautiful view of Kibo Summit.

During the trek you will also see giant lobelias which are scattered throughout the landscape at this altitude.

Day 4. Acclimatization ascent to Zebra Rocks (4010m)

Duration of the hike: 4 hours
Length of the route: 10 km
Altitude gain: 310 m
Climate zone: moorland

This is an extra day meant for acclimatization and will be spend it by hiking to Zebra Rocks. The unique landscape offers motivating views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. After spending some time exploring the area we’ll head back to Horombo Hut.

Day 5. Horombo Hut (3720 m) – Kibo Hut (4720 m)

Duration of the hike: 6-7 hours
Length of the route: 10 km
Altitude gain: 1000 m
Climate zone: alpine desert

After breakfast we will hike up to our third camp, which is located at an area called “The Saddle”, which is located between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. From here we can clearly see the trail leading to the summit.

At Kibo Hut you will be served an early dinner and should try get to bed before 19:00 as you will be awoken around 23:30 to start your 1,175 meter ascent to Uhuru Peak. Make sure that you have all your gear ready for a prompt departure, including insulated water, snacks, your headlamp, etc.

Day 6. Kibo Camp (4720 m) – Mount Kilimanjaro (Uhuru) (5895 m)

Duration of the hike: 7-8 hours
Length of the route: 6 km
Altitude gain: 1175 m
Climate zone: Glacier, high alpine zone

We will wake up at midnight and start climbing after having a light snack. We will follow the rocky route to Gilman’s point (5681 m). After walking for an additional hour or two we will reach the highest point of Africa, the Uhuru peak.

After resting and taking pictures at the top, we will start our descent. After about 3 hours of walking down we will reach Kibo Hut, where we will rest, have some snacks and continue our descent to Horombo Hut.

Day 7. Horombo Hut (3720 m) – Marangu Gate (1830 m) – Arusha

After breakfast in the morning we will start the descent to the Maragu gate, on the way we will stop at the Mandara hut for lunch. At the checkpoint we will get our Kilimanjaro certificates and head to our hotel.

Day 8. Safari tour to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast in the morning we will drive to Tarangire National Park and take a safari tour in the area of the park. It is rich in flora and fauna. During the tour you can see zebras, rhinos, lions, elephants, buffalo, etc.

At the beginning of the day we will visit the famous Maasai tribe and get acquainted with their culture and lifestyle. Dressed in bright red robes, spear in hand, Maasai warriors are an impressive sight to behold. Calm and courageous in dangerous situations, this tribe is renowned for its remarkable trackers with generations of knowledge of their lands and its wildlife. As semi-nomadic pastoralists, they still live by herding cattle and goats.

Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport and return to Yerevan

In 2026, we’ll climb one of the highest and most beautiful volcanoes of the Caucasus mountains, Mount Kazbek (5047 m), situated between Georgia and Russia.

Difficulty: 2A

Duration: 5 days

Dates of hike: 27-31.07, 2026

We’ll perform a climb to Mount Kazbek from Georgia. All heavy staff will be carried by horses.

All participants must have hiking experience.

How to Prepare for Climbing Mount Kazbek

Day to day itinerary:

Day 1: Yerevan – Stepantsminda

Early in the morning, we’ll move from Yerevan to the village of Stepantsminda.

On our way, we’ll have a stop in Tbilisi. In the evening, we will already be in Stepantsminda and stay in a guesthouse.

Day 2: Stepantsminda – Tsminda Sameba – Meteo station

In the morning, we’ll move to Tsminda Sameba monastery, at a height of 2200 meters, by off-road vehicles. From the monastery, we’ll start our ascent to the Meteo station, at a height of 3700 meters. We’ll walk in light backpacks. Heavy staff will be carried by horses.

Overnight in the Meteo station.

Day 3: Acclimatization day

We’ll have an acclimatization climb and down back to the Meteo station.

After resting, we’ll start our ascent to the top of Mount Kazbek at night.

Day 4: On the top of Mount Kazbek (5047 m)

At 2 am, we’ll start our ascent which will last around 11 hours. After reaching the summit, we’ll walk down to Tsminda Sameba monastery.

All heavy stuff will be carried by horses, and we’ll walk down with our light backpacks. From the monastery, we’ll go down to the village of Stepantsminda by off-road vehicles.

Day 5: Yerevan

In the morning, we’ll move to Yerevan.

Due to bad weather conditions, we’ll need an additional overnight on the mountain.

Join our second trek to Everest Base Camp.

From November 1 to November 15, 2026 we invite you to participate in our trek and get closer to the world’s highest and most desirable mountain. Experience the atmosphere of mountaineering, immerse yourself in the culture and lifestyle of the Sherpas, and marvel at the stunning landscapes of the mountain giants.

Mount Everest is the main treasure of Nepal. The Earth’s highest point (8848 m) attracts the attention of thousands of people simply because it exists.

‘Because it is there’ is the famous response of George Mallory to the question of why he wanted to climb Mt Everest. The best way to understand these words is to embark on a journey to Everest Base Camp.

Travel Itinerary by Day:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrival at Kathmandu International Airport and transfer to the hotel.

Everest Base Camp

Day 2: Kathmandu – Lukla (2700 m) – Phakding (2900 m)

In the morning, we will take a flight to Lukla, where we’ll start our trek to the Everest Base Camp.

Upon arrival in Lukla, we’ll meet our team and begin our trek along the Dudh Kosi River to Phakding.

The flight will be operated on Dornier or Twin Otter aircraft. The duration of the flight is approximately 30 minutes.

The hiking duration: 3-4 hours
Length of the route: 8 km
Altitude gain: 400 m

Day 3: Phakding (2900 m) – Namche Bazaar (3440 m)

In the morning, after breakfast, we will continue our trek to Namche Bazaar, the largest and most significant settlement in the Khumbu region.

An hour into the trek, we will reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. After registration, we will continue our journey. Along the way, we will cross the highest suspension bridge in the region, named in honor of Sir Edmund Hillary.

Immediately after the bridge, a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar begins, and in the midst of it, there will be a viewpoint of Mt Everest.

Length of the route: 11 km

Day 4: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar

On the fourth day of our journey, we will spend time in Namche Bazaar, strolling through the town and enjoying the views of the surrounding towering mountains.

Directly above Namche, the peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam will come into view. We will continue our walk to the ‘Everest View Hotel’ and explore the surroundings.

Day 5: Namche Bazaar (3440 m) – Tengboche (3860 m)

In the morning, after breakfast, we will continue the trek to Tengboche. Here, the renowned Tengboche Monastery is situated, which is the largest gompa (Buddhist educational and spiritual institution) in the Khumbu region.

Day 6: Tengboche (3860 m) – Dingboche (4410 m)

In the morning, through a birch forest we will walk to the village Dingboche. Along the way, we will pass through Pangboche, situated on the slopes of the Mount Ama Dablam.

The hiking duration: 5-6 hours
Length of the route: 11 km
Altitude gain: 950 m

Day 7: Dingboche (4410 m) – Lobuche (4940 m)

Lobuche is the second highest village on our route. From here, the entire Khumbu Glacier is visible.

On the trail leading to Lobuche, we will walk through Thukla Pass, where a memorial dedicated to the memory of mountaineers and Sherpas who never returned from Everest is located.

Day 8: Lobuche (4940 m) – Everest Base Camp (5360 m) – Gorak Shep (5150 m)

This is the most awaited day of our journey, as today we will head to Everest Base Camp.

At the start of the route, we will hike from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, which will take approximately 3-4 hours. After some rest, we’ll continue our journey to Everest Base Camp.

Surrounded by the world’s highest peaks and enjoying their majestic and unearthly beauty, we will return to Gorak Shep for an overnight.

Day 9: Gorak Shep (5150 m) – Kala Patthar (5644 m) – Pangboche (3900 m)

In the morning, after breakfast, we will begin the ascent to the summit of Kala Patthar, offering a breathtaking view of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan giants.

Of course, against the background of the neighboring Pumori (7161 m) and Everest (8848 m), this mountain may seem quite small, but it is still a few meters higher than Mount Elbrus.

After the ascent, we will descend to the village Pangboche.

In the morning, we will return to Kathmandu on a small plane and stroll through the city and savor our last day in Nepal.

In 2026, we’ll climb the highest point of Europe, Mount Elbrus (5642 m), a popular destination for mountaineers.

Mount Elbrus is a stratovolcano located in the Caucasus Mountains, on the border between Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia in Russia. It is part of the “Seven Summits,” a group of the highest mountains on each continent.

The mountain has two peaks, the Western summit at 5 642 m and the Eastern summit at 5 621 m.

The climb to the summit of Mount Elbrus can be challenging, and it is essential to be adequately prepared and equipped for the climb. It is recommended that climbers have prior mountaineering experience and be in good physical condition.

We’ll perform the climb from the South.

All participants must have climbing experience.

Day to day itinerary:

Day 1: Yerevan – Stepantsminda

Early in the morning we’ll move from Yerevan to Stepantsminda.

Day 2: Stepantsminda – Elbrus

We’ll move from Stepantsminda to the village of Azau. We’ll stay in the hotel and prepare for the climb.

Day 3: Azau – Mountain Shelter

Early in the morning, we’ll move to Azau, and climb up to the height of 3 700 m by cable car.

We’ll walk from there to our shelter at a height of 4 100 m.

Day 4: Acclimatization day

Acclimatization is the main thing for climbing mountains like Elbrus. We’ll have a whole day for it. In the morning, we’ll walk to the Pastukhov Rock at a height of 4 700 m․ After that, we’ll walk down to our shelter.

Day 5: Free day

After the acclimatization day, we’ll have a free day and we’ll have time to rest and better prepare the body for the upcoming climb.

Day 6: On the top of Mount Elbrus

At night we’ll start to climb and gain 1 600 meters, walking from the height of 4 700 to the summit, on the 5 642 m.

After reaching the summit, we’ll descend to our shelter, and then to Azau.

After breakfast, we’ll move to Yerevan.

Due to bad weather conditions, we’ll need an additional overnight on the mountain.

The Volcanic Seven Summits Project

Many people are aware of the Seven Summits, which are the highest mountain peaks of seven continents. Besides the Seven Summits, there’s the Volcanic Seven Summits project that includes the world’s highest volcanic summits. An Italian mountaineer Mario Trimeri was the first person to complete the Volcanic Seven Summits in 2011.

The project is based on the idea of climbing real volcanoes, which are volcanic centers with craters at least 300 meters high above sea level.

The Volcanic Seven Summits project compared to the Seven Summits is lighter, more interesting, and no less eventful.

Ojos del Salado is the highest volcano in the world, located in the Atacama Desert, on the Argentina-Chile border.

Climbing Ojos del Salado is challenging due to its high altitude, extreme weather conditions, and technical difficulties in some sections of the ascent. But it’s also fascinating due to the stunning views of the Atacama Desert and the surrounding Andean peaks.

One of the unique features of Ojos del Salado is the presence of a crater lake Laguna del Inca, located at an altitude of 6 390 m, which is considered the highest lake in the world.

Kilimanjaro is the highest volcano, the highest summit in Africa, and the highest single free-standing mountain in the world at the same time. Mount Kilimanjaro is included not only in the Volcanic Seven Summits but also in the Seven Summits.

This route to Kilimanjaro is the oldest and most well-established one, it’s also extremely popular among trekkers mainly because it is the only route that has hut accommodation which is very comfortable.

One of the unique aspects of climbing Mount Orizaba is the diversity of the terrain and ecosystems. You pass through arid deserts filled with cacti, before ascending into high-altitude forests and eventually reaching the glaciers and snowfields near the summit.

The Volcanic Seven Summits Project

Hiking in Svaneti is one of our most beautiful and adventurous destinations. We started to organize it in 2013. Every year we improve this program, and invite you to join the trip of 2021, which will be held on August 21-26. The journey will start from Yerevan, and then continue to Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and the final point will be Mestia. You can join us at the airport of Tbilisi or Kutaisi, if it is more convenient for you.

Hiking route is chosen for healthy people with average physical training. It will be interesting both for experienced hikers and for beginners. No special training is required for participation. While hiking in Svaneti we will only carry small backpacks, with all the necessary things for the day. We will sleep in comfortable and clean guest houses.

Svaneti / Hiking in Georgia

Svaneti is a historical region in the north-west of Georgia. It extends along the upper stream of high Inguri River valley. Upper Svaneti, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is known for its architectural treasures (especially tower fortresses built in 9-12 centuries, that are still inhabited) and indescribable natural wonders (mountains, gorges, glaciers, mountain passes and so on).

Duration of the trip: 6 days, 5 nights.

Day 1: City of towers

Early in the morning we will leave Yerevan and start our journey to the center of Upper Svaneti – Mestia. We will arrive there late in the evening. If we have time, we will walk around Mestia, get acquainted with this unique city, with its towers, and try Svan dishes. By the way, towers look especially beautiful at night.

Day 2: Svaneti from a bird’s-eye view

In the morning we will visit house-museum of the world-famous mountaineer Mikhail Khergiani, where we will learn more about Soviet mountaineering, about Khergiani’s biography, see the conditions in which Svans lived and for what purpose they built these residential tower-fortresses.

By the way, in the house-museum of Khergiani we’ve created a small corner, where some examples of Soviet Armenian mountaineering are presented.

Then we will hike to the famous “Cross” of Mestia. It is located on a hill, from which you can enjoy an indescribably beautiful view to Caucasus Mountains, and below you can see the villages of Svaneti.

Day 3: Ushguli

In the morning we will drive to the highest settlement of Svaneti – Ushguli on 4×4 cars. From here we will hike to the glacier of the highest mountain of Georgia – Shkhara.

Day 4: Chalaadi Glacier

In the morning we will visit the Svan History and Ethnography museum, learn more about the local lifestyle and find out for what purpose their famous towers were built. Then we will hike to the Chalaadi glacier.

Day 5: Shdugra Waterfall and Ushba Glacier

In the morning we will go to Becho. Here, from a small village we will start our hike to the Shdugra waterfall, which falls from a height of about 150 meters. It is located on the northwestern slopes of Mount Ushba, which borders the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria of Russian Federation.

We will admire the beauty of this waterfall from afar.

After the waterfall, we will continue our hike and go to the Ushba glacier. Here we will also see one of the most famous mountains of the Caucasus Mountains – Ushba, from a new angle.

Day 6: Return

In the morning, after breakfast we will go back to Yerevan.
