It has an altitude of 2455 meters, and is located about 140 kilometers from Yerevan. Nearby villages are Zedea and Aragakadzor. The distance from Zedea village to the summit is 4.82 km, and from Aragakadzor village it is 12.68 kilometers. Hiking trips along Vardablur often go from one village to the other.
