In the province of Kotayk, not far from the village Garni is situated one of the most well-known and beautiful natural monuments of Armenia – Symphony of Stones. It is said that this natural monument is the result of the collapse of the volcanic rocks. <\/span><\/p>\n

The monument consists of huge paradoxically symmetric hexagon and pentagon basalt columns (nearly 50 meters high). These stones hanging against the gravity resemble an organ, which explains why it is also referred to as \u201cBasalt Organ Pipes”. <\/span>The river of Azat flows through the gorge, thus peppering the mesmerizing beauty of stones with burble. From the territory of the monument you can also enter to Khosrov Forest State Reserve and discover one of the specially protected areas of Armenia.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

“Symphony of Stones” is a natural monument and protected by law. This is one of the must-see places of Armenia.<\/p>\n

This majestic natural monument isn’t only a “must see” place in Armenia, but also “must have photos in” place. So besides an excursion there you can also take a photo tour to Symphony of Stones.<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Pagan Temple of Garni<\/h3>\n

The Temple of Garni is located in the village of Garni, not far from the “Symphony of Stones”. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to some historical records the temple was constructed by King Tiridates I, after defeating the Roman army. The structure was built as a temple to the sun god Mithra (Mihr), who is referred to as the deity of light and truth in ancient Armenian mythology. However, Movses Khoren\u0561tsi linked the establishment of the temple to Hayk the Great and his great grandson’s grandchild Garnik, after whom according to the historians the temple was called Garni. <\/span><\/p>\n

Garni<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0it is the best-known structure and symbol of pre-Christian Armenia.<\/p>\n\n\n
