Here you will find your backpacking checklist.<\/p>\n<p>To enjoy the trip and make it unforgettable, you need to prepare for it not only physically, but also technically. In mountains the weather changes very quickly and unexpectedly, and you should always be prepared for any weather conditions. Your backpack can fall into a river or simply get wet in the rain. To keep the contents of backpack dry, it would be better to separately wrap each item in waterproof bags, and then to put all this in one common bag.<\/p>\n<p>Lets take a closer look and understand what do we need to take with us for an overnight backpacking trip. Lets divide the backpacking checklist into two groups: clothes and euqipment.<\/p>\n\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Clothes<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Trekking <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-boots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">boots<\/a><\/span> &#8211; high, durable, with thick soles<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-gaiters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gaiters<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/thermal-underwear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thermal underwear<\/a><\/span>, preferably several sets<\/li>\n<li>A few pairs of thermal <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-socks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">socks<\/a><\/span> and regular socks<\/li>\n<li>Membrane <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-jacket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">jacket<\/a><\/span>\u00a0&#8211; windproof and waterproof<\/li>\n<li>Hiking <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-pants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pants<\/a><\/span>, at least with minimal water resistance<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/what-is-fleece\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fleece jacket<\/a><\/span> or other similar jacket, merino wool or synthetic sweater<\/li>\n<li>Sun cap and <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-sunglasses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sunglasses<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Lightweight vest or jacket. They don\u2019t take up much space in backpack and are very comfortable to wear at the camp<\/li>\n<li>Sneakers, crocs or other similar slippers for the camp<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/what-is-buff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buff<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Underwear<\/li>\n<li>Warm hat<\/li>\n<li>The type of <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-gloves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gloves<\/a><\/span> depends on the route<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Equipment<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Backpack<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We recommend you to have a <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/how-to-choose-a-backpack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">backpack<\/a><\/span> with a capacity of at least 60 liters &#8211; for 4 days. If the route is long, then the volume of the backpack increases too.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tent &#8211; necessarily double layered<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/sleeping-bag\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sleeping bag<\/a><\/span> with thermal properties matching the entire route<\/li>\n<li>Camping rug or mat<\/li>\n<li>Knife<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Keep in mind that you will not use knife for self-defense.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Special means of self-defense<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are &#8211; pepper spray, stun gun, firecracker. Do not take with you anything resembling a firearm: air or gas gun, stun gun that looks like a gun, and so on. For their effective use you need to be well trained, otherwise you will just attract unnecessary attention.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Personal dishes, spoon, cup, knife<\/li>\n<li>Water bag<\/li>\n<li>Separate bottle of water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regardless of whether you have a water bag or not, it is advisable to carry another vessel with a liquid.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thermos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thermos should be from high-quality brands, such as Thermos, Stanley, more affordable ones are Kovea, TSL. We recommend to choose one of the first two options. Good quality thermos should keep the temperature of the liquid for 12 hours, at air temperature of 0.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-poles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trekking poles<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Power bank, minimum 10.000 mAh<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a very necessary thing in your backpacking checklist. Would be better to carry several power banks with you, even if they have less power. If the battery of one of them dies from cold, or if it gets damaged, you will have emergency options.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Food for the whole trip<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/hiking-flashlight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forehead flashlight<\/a><\/span> with disposable batteries, and at least two packs of spare batteries.<\/li>\n<li>Backpacking stove<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Would be nice to also have spare gas cylinders. For real backpacking stoves, there are special gas cylinders with a solution of isobutane and propane. Such stoves are most effective in high altitude conditions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/first-aid-kit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">First-aid kit<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Sunscreen and lip balm<\/li>\n<li>Thread, needle<\/li>\n<li>Rescue blanket<\/li>\n<li>Phone<\/li>\n<li>GPS navigator, if you don\u2019t have one in your phone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>That\u2019s all. We tried to list all the basic things that are necessary in order to \u201cget lost\u201d in the mountains for several days. This backpacking checklist is not final and not perfect; there is always room for improvements and additions. So we are ready to listen to your opinions and advice.<\/p>\n<p><em>And always remember!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When you take something with you on a hike, you must be prepared for the fact that it can break, burn in the campfire or simply get lost. Take things that will not be difficult to say goodbye to.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Everything that you pack, you will carry on your shoulders.
