In the morning of the first day we will go to the south of Armenia and find ourselves in the 4th century. We will see the famous and significant temple &#8211; Khor Virap. The temple was built on a deep pit, where in the 4th century Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years. We will go down into the pit and learn more about this story. It is one of the best-preserved fortresses in Armenia. It is surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs. It has strong walls with semicircular towers with the height of 8-10 meters and the width of 3-4 meters. There are many legends and tales about this fortress. These stories are connected to one of the greatest kings of Armenia. In the morning we will start our hike along narrow gorges to the monastery, which is located on the slopes of the Teksar Mountains. We will descend to Vorotan Gorge, where we will see several <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armgeo.am\/en\/abandoned_villages_of_vorotan_gorge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abandoned villages<\/a><\/span> with houses carved in the rock. After witnessing all this, you will be able to imagine how people once lived in these caves.<\/p>\n<p>Old Khot is one of the oldest settlements in the Syunik region. This place is rightfully called the \u201cArmenian Machu Picchu\u201d. There are many burials in Old Khot dating back to 1-2nd centuries BC. Shinuhayr is one of the oldest villages in Syunik. The monastery is named after St. Eustathius (arm. It is a bridge made by nature itself. There are stalactites and stalagmites under the bridge, as well as natural \u201cbaths\u201d of mineral water. If the day is warm, we will swim in those baths with healthy mineral water.<\/p>\n<p>We will continue our way to one of the most visited villages in Syunik &#8211; Old Khndzoresk, which is famous for its caves and a swinging bridge, 160 meters long.
