Armenia is a landlocked country. Therefore it is more often associated with mountains and gorges rather than water. However, in these mountains and gorges there are many lakes and waterfalls. Many interesting and beautiful legends were even composed about some waterfalls in Armenia.<\/p>\n

Gegharot Waterfall<\/h3>\n

This waterfall is included in the list of natural monuments in Armenia. It is located in the Aragatsotn region, on the slope of Mount Aragats, at an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level. In winter, the waterfall freezes, and in warm weather, cold waters fall from a height of 17 meters. The waterfall is located on Gegharot River, which is the right tributary of Kasagh River.<\/p>\n

Vahagn and Astghik waterfalls<\/h3>\n

In Armenia, as in other countries, paganism left its deep mark. Some of the waterfalls in Armenia were even named after the Armenian gods. For example, on the territory of Khosrov Reserve there are 4 waterfalls, two of which are located very close to each other and are named after the Armenian pagan gods – Astghik (goddess of water, love and beauty) and Vahagn (god of lightning and thunder). Vahagn is also known as Vishapakagh (Dragon slayer). Astghik was Vahagn\u2019s lover. According to legend<\/a><\/span>, after their meetings, it always rained, bringing people a rich harvest.<\/p>\n

Khosrov Reserve<\/a><\/span> is located in the Ararat region of Armenia and has a long and interesting history. There are many rare plants and animals on the territory of the reserve. It is a perfect place for hiking trips, and in hot weather it will be especially pleasant to stop and cool off at these beautiful waterfalls.<\/p>\n

Lichk Waterfalls<\/h3>\n

This is a cascade of waterfalls located in Syunik region of Armenia. The waterfalls are located on Zvaraget and Meghri rivers, which flow through the village of Lichk. There are four waterfalls on Zvaraget River. Another group of waterfalls is located on Meghri River. Some of the Lichk Waterfalls<\/a><\/span> are difficult to access, and some of them are easier to reach.<\/p>\n

In general, there are more than three dozen waterfalls on Zvaraget and Meghri rivers. Go to Lichk village in Syunik region in search of Lichk Waterfalls.<\/p>\n

Shinuhayr Waterfall<\/h3>\n

Shinuhayr Waterfall is located in the Vorotan gorge, near Shinuhayr village. You can see the waterfall during the hike from Old Khot to Old Shinuhayr<\/a><\/span>. The beauty of this waterfall is indescribable.<\/p>\n
