The Swinging bridge is <\/span>located<\/span> in the village of Khndzoresk in the Syunik region. The bridge, which connects the two \u201cbanks\u201d of Khndzoresk \u2013 the Old and New, was put into operation in June 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

The bridge has a length of 160 meters, a height of 63 meters, and weighs 14 tons. Approximately 700 people of average weight can simultaneously cross the bridge. From the bridge, there is a breathtaking view of the gorge. Not only can you see the four churches of Khndzoresk from the bridge, but also the famous \u201cNine Children\u201d source are clearly visible.<\/span><\/p>\n

The legend<\/h3>\n

The legend says that one day, when Khndzoresk was attacked by an enemy, all its inhabitants, young and old, stood up to defend their native village. Even women took up arms to give to the enemy rebuff. One of them was Sona, a widow and mother of nine children.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her father, an old master mason named Ohan built an arch of indescribable beauty over the source in memory of Sona, who died heroically in battle. This source fed the roots of the mighty walnut tree.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the construction of the arch was completed, Ohan addressed the source with the following words:<\/span> \u201c<\/span>Oh, sacred source, I pray you to let your waters become milk that will feed Sona\u2019s children and my grandchildren<\/span>.\u201d<\/span> That is why the bowl of the source resembles a woman\u2019s breast in its shape. You can drink water out of this bowl only obediently sinking to the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sacred source described in this beautiful legend is located in the Pitsidzor quarter which is the central part of Khndzoresk.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
