Yeranos Mountains

Yeranos mountains are one of the south-western branches of Geghama mountain range. It stretches along the left bank of the river Azat to Ararat plateau. The length of the range is 23 km, the width is 3-9 km, the highest peak is Mount Yeranos (1829m). The mountain is block folding, it has an uneven structure.

The north-western and northern slopes are steep and short, the southern and eastern slopes are not very steep. It has a semi-desert, dry mountain steppe landscape. The north-western slopes of Yeranos mountains are included in Khosrov reserve.

This hiking trail is the longest one among one-day trips. The length of the hike is 25 km. We start the hike from the village Garni, go down to Azat gorge and then cross the river and climb up to the ridge of the range. Then we continue the hike along the ridge till the summit. After a little rest on the summit we continue our way to the village Lanjazat, which is located near the dam of Azat reservoir.

Yeranos Mountains

There are beautiful views during the whole way. In front of us is Masis (Ararat), Yerakh mountains are in the east, Voghjaberd mountain range is in the west and the Azat reservoir is below.
On the way we will see the natural monument “Sphinx”.
