Along Areguni Mountains to Village Geghatap

After reaching lake Kakach we continue our way along the slopes of Areguni mountains to the village Geghatap. From Geghatap our trail leads to the lake Gosh and continues to the Gosh village.

Lake Gosh is located 2.2 km south-east from the village Gosh. The maximum depth of the lake is 8 m. After reaching the lake Gosh we continue to Gosh village, where Goshavank monastery is located. Goshavank (Nor Getik Monastery) was named after Mkhitar Gosh in 1213, who founded the monastery in 1188, with the support of Lords Ivane and Zaqare. It used to have a college, a university and a seminary. Many manuscripts were written, rewritten and kept here.

The length of the route of hiking from Tsovagyugh to Gosh is 23 km.

If you want to experience such kind of a trail, but think that you can’t overcome 23 km, then you can choose another trail that starts from lake Parz to lake Gosh. This hiking trail is of moderate level and is a perfect option even if you are hiking with kids.
