Qarkatar Mountains

Length: 25 km

Highest summit: Mount Qarkatar (2,961 m)

Coordinates: 39°51’59.77, 45°10’20.70

Qarkatar Mountains are located in the northwestern section of Vayots Dzor Province. The range starts from Mount Mknasar in the Vardenis Mountain Range and extends north-eastward to the confluence of the Arpa and Yeghegis rivers. The mountain range gradually descends from the northwest to the south. The highest peaks in this range include Mount Tsolasar (2,772 m) and Mount Partam (2,681 m).

Several tributaries of the Arpa River (Shresht, Aghavnadzor and Taparu) flow from the south-facing slopes of the mountain range, and several tributaries of the Yeghegis River have their source here too.
