Chasing volcanoes of Syunik highland

Sunny Armenia is a perfect place for those who love volcanoes, especially the volcanoes of Syunik. Despite the fact that all the volcanoes in the territory of Armenia went extinct many millennia ago, being on the top of them, you can still feel the energy of eruptions. Moreover, petroglyphs located at an altitude of 3000 meters, will help you delve into the past of the volcanic mountains.

Day 1: In the footsteps of volcanic mountains: Ukhtasar

Early in the morning, we will start our journey from Yerevan to the south of Armenia, to feel the energy and power of eruptions, to be in a beautiful corner of our unique country. From the Vorotan valley the road leads to the Syunik Highland, where we will switch to off-road vehicles to reach an alpine lake of Ukhtasar.

Ukhtasar- a place of power. Everyone who visits this place, will feel it, since Ukhtasar is a huge crossroad, where history and nature intersect. This is a distinctive place, where you will feel the spirit of nature and see numerous stones and petroglyphs around, that utter about the millenia that passed by this picturesque sight, which used to serve as a holy place where people offered sacrifices to please their gods, and became one of the most beautiful parts of this country. On this day we will climb mountain Tsghuk (3581m).

In the morning of the next day, we will start our ascent to the peak of the mountain Trasar (3594m). This volcanic mountain is impressive with its energy and power, which is definitely worth feeling.
