Amutegh - Kashatagh - Artsakh

Mount Amutegh

The height of the mountain Amutegh is 1315 meters above sea level. The mountain is quite isolated from its surroundings and is bordered by enormous cliffs. Amutegh is situated 5 kilometers east of the left bank of the river Hakar. On the peak of the mountain, there is a small church whose origins date back to about the 17th and 18th centuries. Upon discovery, no inscriptions were found anywhere in this church, so not much is known about it. Before the uprooting of Armenians from the village of Harhar, this church was the main place where locals went on a pilgrimage
