One-Day Tour to Lake Sevan

The one-day tour to Lake Sevan will begin with a stop near this lake of majestic beauty which is one of the high-altitude freshwater lakes in Eurasia. Then we will drive to the village of Noratus, where we are going to see hundreds of cross-stones, true pearls of medieval Armenian culture. The art of Armenian cross-stones has been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

At the end of the tour, we will visit Mikayelyan Family Farm, where you will reveal the traditions of Armenian cheesemaking and will taste different sorts of this product.

Noratus

The art of cross-stones is one of the most typical manifestations of medieval Armenian culture, the cemetery of Noratus being a true museum of cross-stones in the open air. Hundreds of cross-stones are preserved here, the works of the 13th to 14th centuries being particularly noteworthy.

In this cemetery which shows the chronological development of the cross-stone art you will feel an atmosphere of the past. The art of Armenian cross-stones has been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Mikayelyan Family Farm

Have you ever tasted homemade Armenian cheese? The region of Gegharkunik is well-known for its rich cuisine, and Mikayelyan Family Farm is noted for its natural, incredibly delicious and aromatic cheeses.

Cheese tasting

Here only fresh dairy products are used, and the production features wine- and cognac-cheese, “horats” cheese (cheese kept in a jar) as well as some European sorts. During the tour on the farm, you will reveal the traditions of Armenian cheese making and will learn some details relating to the production processes. You will also visit the underground cheese cellar and the hall for guests.
