Qajkar / Armenian highland

Mount Qajkar

Mount Qajkar is the highest peak of Eastern Pontic mountains which is located on the north-eastern part of Armenian Highland. The height of mountain is 3937 m. The name has originated from Armenian word “qajq” which means a devil force or some spiritual creature (bed or good).

There are many big and small lakes on the green slopes of mount Qajkar.

Lake Tsovalich or Deniz gyol is located on the southern slopes of mountain. From the top of mount Qajkar you can admire the panorama of the whole Armenian Highland. To the north you can see Black sea. If the weather is fine you can also see mount Ararat from the top of Qajkar.
