Syunik Region used to have 2 names- Syunik and Sisakan.
The highest peak is Kaputjugh (3904m).  Other famous peaks are Baghatssar, Khustup, Big Ishkhanasar, Aramazd, Tsghuk and so on.
The territory is good for pasture , ranching and farming.
The forests occupy quite big territory; forests of Mtnadzor and the forest of Platan tree are very worthwhile. These forests are rich with unique plants and animals. Syunik region is also famous with its minerals. In This territory people produce copper and non-ferrous metals.
The biggest rivers of the region are Vorotan and Voghji.
