Qolatak

Village Qolatak is located in Martakert region of Artsakh, 54 km far from the center of the region and 42 km from the capital Stepanakert. Population is mainly involved in agriculture and cattle breeding. Along the borderline of Qolatak community flows a river which is also called Qolatak.

Monuments

There are many historical monuments of 9-18th centuries in the territory the village and its surroundings. One of that monuments is “Koshik Hermitage”. This is a complex of monuments composed by three churches, many khachkars, cemetery, reservoir and other constructions. It is located 8 km away from Qolatak on the height called “Anapat” (hermitage). The complex is divided into 2 parts. The first one consists of three churches and a three-arched gavit (narthex). On the right side one can see the ruins of some houses. Inside the houses many khackkars with carvings of soldiers with horses are preserved. The southern part consists of two houses. You can also see the half ruined walls of a baths, through which many clay pipes pass.

According to archaeologists this complex of historical monuments was built in 12th century. Above the hermitage there is a large cemetery.

The trail of  Kachaghakaberd also starts from the village Qolatak.
