Teksar Mountains

The Teksar Mountains are located in Vayots Dzor Province and forms the watershed between the Arpa river and its right tributary (Yeghegis). It begins from Mount Sandukhtasar of the Vardenis mountain mange, stretching northwest until it reaches Shatin village. The highest summits of the range are Chaghatsar (3,334 m), Sheksar (3,149 m), Teksar (2,898 m) and Gayledzor (2,762 m).

Teksar mountains

Teksar mountains have an uneven structure, with short and steep slopes descending to Yeghegis and long and moderately slanted slopes descending to the Arpa valley. The slopes leading to the Arpa valley have also been subjected to erosion by wind and the subsequent stripping of natural vegetation.

The name of this mountain range is directly linked to its appearance, since teksar means “slanted” in Armenian.
